Amana Orange

Amana Orange is one of the tastiest and earliest of the heirloom beefsteaks in our trials.  Deep orange color and big beefsteak flavor make this one of our all-time favorites!

Planting: Start indoors in a warm location about 6-8 weeks before setting out.  Harden off young plants about 10 days before transplanting by setting outdoors in a protected location during the day.  Transplant in late spring when nights have warmed.  Tie the vines to a sturdy trellis as they begin to grow.  Feed every 2-3 weeks with a high phosphorous fertilizer and water deeply to encourage a healthy root system.  Indeterminate.  200 mg packet.
