Organic Squash, Waltham Butternut (Curcurbita moschata)
Packed with tasty orange flesh with a unique sweet flavor. Waltham is an improved Butternut strain with an extra small seed cavity and a thick straight neck. This, plus its excellent keep ability, won it the All American Selections Award when it was originally introduced.
Plant in full sun with rich soil for best growth. Start outside about two weeks after last frost when soil is completely warm. For transplants start indoors about two weeks before last frost.

Harvest when shells are thumbnail hard. Cut from vine leaving a one inch handle. Cure outside for seven to ten days, but do not allow fruits to freeze. Fruits will keep for several months in a cool dry location. Healthy plants will produce four to five fruits per plant of about four pounds.
