I have several of these now and really like them....so do the hummingbirds.

I'm willing to pay a bit more for these hummingbird feeders because they are worth it to me. They're easy to get open and closed as well as to clean. One is at least 3 years old and holding up well. I'm glad they changed the flower to be incorporated into the plastic. The hummers don't seem to mind and they have much less mold to clean that way. I haven't had a problem with yellow jackets with these, either. Ants do still get in occasionally. I live in NW Washington and winter over Anna's Hummingbirds.

    No more bees!

The media could not be loaded.  Also, the built in ant moat is great.

    No more wasps!

With our old hummingbird feeder the birds actually stopped coming because it was continuously covered in wasps and bees. This solved the problem completely! I have had so many beautiful hummingbirds since installing this new feeder. I moved the old one further into the trees so that the bees and wasps still have access, but they leave this one alone completely. Excellent purchase that I couldn't be happier with!

    Bee proof feeder !

We were having daily difficulties with bees overrunning our feeders . This feeder helped to discourage their presence since the liquid could not be reached by the bees. Good purchase !

    Believe the hype

    Posted by Conrad.TDI on Jun 26th 2021

Expensive? Compared to the fake ones, yes. Does it work? As which, a feeder, or as a bug-shielded feeder? Yes, and yes.I have fed hummers for years here in Southern California. My feeders have always been on a metal crook. Ants have found it, once a year, but they were fairly easy to eradicate. This year the bees found the leaking seam of a normal gravity-fed bottle feeder. Once they found that, they came as a swarm, and switching feeders did nothing. This feeder was suggested - and it was my last attempt before giving up. It worked perfectly. Bees still come, but they can't get in through the flowers, and there is no leakage with this design. They quickly give up and it's only an occasional bee at this point. It's also a wide, comfortable feeder for six birds at a time. Strongly suggested!

Decent, but should have been better made.

The product seems fine; however for a USA made product the injection mounding was low quality at best. The detailed markings are clear and text legible, but the engineer in me thinks a higher quality polycarbonate and better attachment hardpoint for both the hanger and and the press-fit for the lid could have been significantly improved with little effort or cost. It just seems very flimsy and fragile with a quite frankly lazy design for $26 buck product. I am very sure that I will have to epoxy the hanger at some point.I would gladly pay more for a glass basin and high quality cover and hanger.Note for aspect if you read this:Make the pan out of borosilicate its better to clean, unlike poly-c no BPA, and stronger.Make a 7/8 turn threaded UV stabilized poly-c top like a Mason jar lid.Make the top compatible with your bee guards!Make the hanger out of aluminum that passes through the center of the basin and a stainless key pin that fits in the center of the rod and a washer between the keeping and glass holds the assembly.Sturdy, corrosion resistant, UV stable, stronger hanger attachment, over all much better product.

Best Designed Hummingbird Feeder for birds and birdwatchers

Posted by MamaSun on Apr 16th 2020

Firstly, I read well over a decade ago, why this design is the best Feeder product on the market: It is the appropriate angle in which the birds can birch while feeding. Therefore the birds remain longer at the feeder because they are not hoovering to drink. This feeder is functional. Designed for the bird's versus garden glitsey, art.Although , the feeder is not 'glamorous', the bird watcher will be amply rewarded with the Natural Beauty of Hummingbirds relaxing while sipping your homemade nectar.BTW This is the EASIEST feeder on the market to clean. Cleaning a feeder is an easier responsibility because of black mold. Lastly, this product is made to last- I purchased my first on probably 15 years ago and I am still using the feeder. I live in a sunny California climate. Frankly, I do not see how the company stays in business but I am thrilled the feeder is still being produced at the SAME standards as close to 20 years ago.

Great construction quality. Birds love it. Enjoyment outweighs the high price.

I've been using this feeder for 5 months. I'm really impressed with the quality of the construction and the easy clean-ability of the feeder. Much better than the inverted-bottle style feeder that I had previously. It comes with a good quality, heavy guage brass hook from which the feeder hangs. The plastic is solid and robust, and the perch ring around the feeder looks like it will resist abuse. I'd give it 5 stars, but there's no good reason why something that is 90% plastic should cost this much. That said, I'm getting my money's worth of enjoyment from it because the birds seem quite comfortable to perch and drink. The most birds I've had is 5 perched and drinking at the same time; all leisurely drinking and not looking stressed by the other birds. Humming birds are territorial and like to be able to see each other coming. Because the reservoir hangs below the perch ring, they can easily see each other and consequently I perceive that they are more relaxed. Previously, with the bottle style feeder, the birds would constantly zip in for a quick drink and then back off 8 inches to see around the bottle, then repeat. With this feeder, they'll stay perched even when another bird approaches. I think it's because they have open sight lines to their surroundings. So, I recommend it, I just wish the price was more respective of the fact that it's nearly all plastic. I recommend getting the 16oz size, not so much for its capacity, but rather for the large number of drinking holes and the generous space between each of them.
