Coast of Maine Lobster Meal is derived from entirely from lobster and crab shell meal, which is high in natural nitrogen and calcium. These items promote strong stem growth, healthy green foliage and a vigorous root system. It is made of ground, dehydrated lobster and crab shells that can be mixed into the soil of new beds, placed in planting holes or used to top dress existing garden beds, container gardens, houseplants and lawns. The chitin in the lobster meal helps prevent blossom end rot in tomatoes, eggplants and peppers. It has been found to be beneficial for squash, cucumbers, beans, carrots and lettuce.
