How to choose your Christmas tree stand
Real or artificial?
A real-tree stand holds the trunk and water. An artificial-tree stand must fit the tree’s center pole.
Measure your tree
Check tree height and trunk or pole diameter against the limits for the exact stand size you select.
Check the footprint
Allow room for the stand’s full base. If adding a collar, compare its inside opening with the stand’s widest dimensions.
Plan for watering
For a real tree, keep the reservoir easy to reach. A skirt or collar should leave access for regular water checks.
Dress the base of your tree
Choose a soft skirt or a structured collar to tie your Christmas display together. Check dimensions for your stand and available floor space.

Can I use a real-tree stand for an artificial tree?
Choose a stand specifically designed for your tree type. Artificial trees need a compatible center-pole fitting; real trees need trunk support and a water reservoir. Check the tree and stand manufacturers’ requirements.
How do I choose between Small and Medium Quicklock stands?
The Small has a 14.2-inch base and a 0.9-gallon reservoir; the Medium has a 15.4-inch base and a 1.2-gallon reservoir. Both list a trunk range of 2–4.7 inches. Also check the tree-height rating on the product you choose.
Will a tree collar fit around my stand?
Compare the collar’s inside opening and height with your stand’s widest dimensions and the space below your lowest branches. Allow access to the reservoir if you have a real tree. A collar is decorative and does not replace a tree stand.
