Description
Thyme
Extremely popular perennial herb with leaves that have a strong, clove like smell and flavor. They are excellent fresh or dry, with chowder, sauces, sea-food dishes, stuffings, soups, meat and poultry. Grows 6-12" tall.
When and where to plant
Select sunny location with well drained soil and sow seed after last frost. Cultivate soil and enrich with vegetable food. For earlier harvest, start seeds indoors. Firm soil over seed.
Care
Keep clipped to encourage bushy growth. Do not over water.
Harvesting
Pick leaves as need to use fresh. For drying, cut stems back at time of flowering and dry in dark, ventilated place.
