    NICE

Posted by Walter C. Snyder on Jun 25th 2013

I like the design of this feeder...very easy to clean and well constructed. At first I thought the base was too deep for a Hummingbird to reach the very bottom. After a week or so, the little hogs proved me wrong...they must have long tongues...because they can empty the feeder. I still am using the red acrylic diamonds that I purchased at a hobby shop to place in the bottom of the feeder. This reduces the amount of fluid required to fill the feeder to about 10 oz and puts the fluid closer to the top. It is worth noting that I also purchased a First Nature 3091 Feeder for 1/3 the price...the Hummingbirds actually prefer this feeder over the Aspects Hummzinger.

Very good feeder, "trick" to opening it

Posted by Customer on Jun 8th 2013

The feeder is nicely made. The threads of the hanger and bottom portion fit snugly together and feel sturdy. The plastic is nice and thick except for the outer perch ring which is thin - why I downgraded from 5 stars. The "trick" to opening it is: place your thumbs in the inner clear plastic "ant moat" and your fingers on the edge of the red plastic top (NOT the perch ring or you can break it). Push with your thumbs and the bottom portion will disengage. I take mine down every 2 days, disassemble and pour boiling water over to clean it. Then use the rest of the boiling water to make food: 1 cup boiling water, add 1/4 cup white sugar, stir and let cool.

Hummingbirds & ORIOLES both love it!!!

Posted by SoCal Folks on Apr 10th 2013

The Orioles that come to our feeders preferred this to a very very similar (only orange color) product. So I got another of this one- I have two of these feeders and hummingbirds & orioles both feed on the same feeders. Makes it easier. This is very easy to clean unlike most other types!

    First choice for the hummers...

Posted by James Milstid on Jan 11th 2012

I have this feeder hanging just a few feet from a bottle type feeder. The hummingbirds choose the Hummzinger over the bottle feeder every time. One of the little rascals has decided that it's worth protecting and guards it for hours at a time. It even chased away a red finch that was wanting in on the action! It's so much fun to watch the mini-skirmishes!I'm buying another Hummzinger and hanging it out of sight from this one to give the other birds a chance!Posted a photo of the territorial hummer...
