How to Care for COLORITA® Alstroemeria
With COLORITA® in your garden, you will have carefree enjoyment all summer long. This garden plant requires very little maintenance.
Planting
Choose a sunny or part sunny location. They do best in a light but rich soil that has good drainage. When you have selected a site, amend the soil by digging in Bumper Crop soil amendment before planting. Plant outdoors when the weather and soil have warmed up, about the time you plant other cool weather plants.
Fertilizer
To prevent blooms from fading, it is important to give extra fertilizer regularly since the plant uses a lot of nutrients. Adding general fertilizer once a month is sufficient to promote long lasting colorful blooms. We recommend using either Garden Elements or Jacks Classic 10-30-20 Blossom Booster Fertilizer.
Watering
To keep COLORITA® in pots on your terrace or balcony, water them regularly, especially on sunny days. When planting in-ground, they may need a little extra water to get started and will require more water during the hot summer months. When watering, be sure to water until completely moist.
Pests and Disease
COLORITA® is resistant to most diseases and pests. Simply use some snail pellets against snails.
Deer-Resistant
Semi-Hardy
COLORITA® is half-hardy and can tolerate mild frost. Plants in pots freeze quicker than when in the ground and are best brought inside and placed in a frost-free spot during winter. When the plants start growing again in the spring, some extra fertilizer will enable the plant to flower faster.
