Description:
Responsibilities include purchasing both Seasonal and Everyday products for retail locations in Lititz, Mohnton and Fleetwood. Purchases include gift, garden, flags, home décor, planters, pottery, seeds and bulbs. Knowledge of gardening, seeds and bulbs, pottery and containers, garden décor and other related hard goods is necessary.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Performs seasonal category reviews with an emphasis on profitability, selection and inventory turns.
- Creates merchandise plans for responsible departments
- Utilizes early season purchasing to obtain maximum discounts
- Ensures all locations stocked with Everyday and Seasonal Merchandise.
- Regularly visit all retail locations to assess buying needs.
- Maintain regular communication with department managers at all locations.
- Collaborate with Department Managers to assess buying needs and provide updates on product purchases and shipment arrivals for their department or area.
- Attend trade shows as requested.
- Monitor current trends and purchase relevant products.
- Maintain a working relationship with company representatives, meeting with them as necessary.
- Set pricing, create promotions/sales and create Purchase Orders.
- All other duties assigned by your director.
Skills and abilities:
- Ability to accurately monitor product trends and buy when appropriate.
- Ability to develop product knowledge that transfers into good buying decisions.
Education and Experience:
- Basic knowledge of gardening and garden related products is helpful.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Epicor System preferred.
Time Requirements:
- Regular schedule will be Monday through Friday with some Saturdays during our busy season.
- This is a permanent position requiring a long-term commitment
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to work in all conditions including: dust, warm and cool temperatures and high humidity.
- Must be able to work while standing or sitting for long periods of time (8-10 hours).
