Mike the Tiger is the mascot of Louisiana State University
(LSU), for 86 years! LSU has a real-life Mike the Tiger Mascot! While the
current one, Mike VII, was born in 2016, the original Mike was purchased in
1936, by Chellis “Mike” Chambers. Mike I’s name was originally Sheik, but was changed
in memory of Chellis “Mike” Chambers.
