Description
The first sign of spring! Great for borders or edging; in groups of a dozen or hundreds and thousands for naturalizing; in the grass, woodlands, or slopes under trees. The colors range from white, yellow and striped to lavender and deep purple. Where squirrels are a problem, plant the corns a bit deeper than usual, tamp the soil down firmly, water well, and immediately mulch with 2 inches of chopped autumn leaves. After crocuses are well established, squirrels rarely bother them.
