    This Is the Best!

Posted by Susannah's Wood on Aug 13th 2010

This is the best feeder I have ever seen, and I've been through dozens of different designs. First of all, bees leave it alone. I had such a problem with bees and wasps this summer that I resorted to chemical sprays, and I NEVER use chemicals! Once I got rid of the stingers, I purchased two of these feeders for my hummers. We love them! The hard plastic looks like it will last for a hundred years. The snap-on top is a fooler, because it's so easy, and I keep thinking it isn't on tight, but that doesn't matter because the feeder is designed so that the top will not dislodge or fall even it it isn't on tight. The ant moat works. The hanger is solid, which makes for easy moving and manipulation, and the feeder stays on the hooks on my porch even in 30 mph wind. My hummers buzzed around and gave these new feeders funny looks for about an hour, but once they got the idea, they were sold. Cleaning is simple because everything is wide and flat, with no little crannies to collect mold. I will never buy any other kind of feeder.

    Great Feeder

Posted by Olivia on Jul 19th 2010

This hummer feeder works by far better than the bottle or "artistic" ones. It is easier to clean - a HUGE factor since we are about feeding, not killing them! It doesn't drip onto your porch or patio, it is resistant to bees and ants. It won't shatter if dropped. It has the recipe for nectar right in the lid, so you can't lose it. Nectar should be made by you, easy-peasy, and brought to a boil before cooling. Make a big batch and then freeze in smaller 'servings' for convenience. Don't use food coloring. The thing I like the most is the perching of the birds. Since they can see in front of themselves, they will sit and feed. I hang my feeders on a hook made from a wire coat hanger. I cut to make a hook at the top for hanging, then at the bottom, using the existing shape of the wire, I form a small bend to hold the top of the feeder and then bend out the last of the wire to near horizontal to make a 5" perch for the birds. It looks like a capital letter L with a small dip at the bottom angle to secure the feeder hook. The birds love this little perch. They sit and feed, then sit on their wire "branch" and keep watch. I have given this feeder to several people and they all love it, too. It's the best!

    A humdinger of a feeder

Posted by Jerry Warriner on Apr 16th 2009

A month after I moved into my home, I bought my first hummingbird feeder, which turned out to be a disappointment. The reservoir was an attractive large plastic red apple, but it constantly leaked nectar. I threw it out. No more gravity feeders for me.So, the Hummzinger was a natural choice. It can't leak, it's easy to clean and I can watch the birds as they dip their beaks into the nectar.Although it's situated deep inside the branches of a tree on my patio, the hummers have had no trouble finding it, and they dart in and out all day. I've just ordered another feeder, and I plan to place it in the same tree. The Hummizinger is sturdy, well designed and well worth the price -- you really do get what you pay for. These birds have given me an immeasurable amount of pleasure. I sit on my patio just to watch these amazing creatures, which often hover for a few moments right in front of me. Perhaps it's their way of saying "thank you," but it is I who should be thanking them.

    Aspects hummingbird hummzinger birdfeeder

Posted by Elizabeth Ann Feeney on Mar 19th 2009

I strongly recommend the Aspect hummingbird hummzinger bird feeder. It is the only hummingbird feeder that is very easy to clean. It even comes with its own cleaning brush. This is important , because hummingbirds can catch a disease from dirty feeders that destroys their beak, and they starve to death. It also has an ant guard. Also , I would like the thank Dbroth for their quick and courteous service. I am very impressed. Liz

    Keeps out bugs!

Posted by GregD on Oct 25th 2008

I bought this feeder after having lots of trouble with bees, wasps, and spiders in my previous bottle-style feeder. This feeder has worked wonderfully, and all the bees and wasps quickly gave up trying to get food from this feeder, even without the included "NectarGuard" tips on the inside of the feeding holes. The built-in ant moat has also been successful so far at keeping out spiders, plus it has built-in overflow holes to prevent it from overfilling due to rain. The low-profile shape reduces wind resistance so it doesn't swing around too much, although it should be noted that the wide, shallow nectar basin will still spill if tilted far enough. I haven't had it spill once so far, though. The feeding ports have a slot cut into them as they extend downwards, so the birds' beaks won't get stuck in the holes, a problem on some other feeders. The plastic base is some sort of acrylic, not polycarbonate as some other reviews suggested, so I can't speak to the longevity of it yet. However, it is sturdy, simple, and easy to assemble/disassemble, with no gaskets or wetted junctions where it might leak. Cleaning is the best of any hummingbird feeder I have ever seen... the top comes off, and the two halves of the unit are completely open and exposed for cleaning.. couldn't be easier. The hanging hook is very sturdy, brass, and balances the feeder well. There also is an option to post-mount it instead, but I haven't tried it. Birds seem to like it, especially without having to fight wasps all the time.

    Aspect Hummingbird Feeder

Posted by Rich S on Sep 15th 2008

This is one of the best hummingbird feeders I've come across! First, it doesn't take large amount of nectar to fill, and then waste, because most of it wasn't eaten after a week; second, the nectar is held in because there is no gravity pushing the nectar on openings or seams making it drip out, as in the "bottle" types; third, it's incredibly easy to dismount, dismantle and clean - just pop the red top off; fourth, it has a built in insect moat; and fifth, the new nectar guards, if you choose to install, really do dissuade the wasps, bees, etc. from hanging around, and the hummingbirds had no trouble adapting to them. The only thing I would improve would be to give the moat more capacity - in direct sun it dries out in a few days, so water needs to be replaced to be effective.

Got rid of the yellow jackets! Great customer service!

Posted by Pol on Sep 6th 2008

At the end of each summer I have swarms of yellow jackets take over my hummingbird feeders and the little buggers chase the hummers away. This year I had enough! After a little online research and reading other reviews of the Hummzinger Ultra product I decided to try it out.I put up the Hummzinger and the hummingbirds figured it out within hours (even with the little rubber tip guards installed). I watched day after day as number of yellow jackets around the Hummzinger decreased. After a week there were ZERO yellow jackets hanging around! If you have yellow jacket issues you must get this feeder!I've also noticed that the hummers will even sit on this feeder every so often, where as on my old feeders they fed and flew away. Another unexpected benefit has been the Hummzinger feeder has been much easier to clean than my old feeders.I'm buying a second Hummzinger in the winter to replace my other feeder - so I'll be ready for the spring!** August 2016 Update: Since my original review I've purchased 2 more Hummzingers for myself and several others as gifts. This summer some of the little plastic clips inside the Hummzinger started snapping off (I don't fault Hummzinger - these feeders sit directly in the sun and have been going strong for almost 8 years). So I contacted Hummzinger to purchase replacement lids. They responded within a day and offered replacement lids at no cost! (Do you want a customer for life? Because that's how you get a customer for life!)So don't look any further, not only are these the best hummingbird feeders I have ever used, but they back up their product with first rate customer service!

    Super Feeders!!

Posted by Kaye on Feb 25th 2008

I bought two of these and will probably buy another this coming summer. These are great. They don't hold gallons of feed so you can change the feed every few days and not waste much. My Hummers took to them right away and NO ANTS in my feeders. Wonderful product & a great buy.:-) Kaye
