    Goodbye rodents

Posted by Brad S on Jul 3rd 2019

I got this to keep squirrels and other rodents away from my bird feeder. Just read what directions said and did what it told me to do. Thought maybe I put too much on first time around because the birds weren't diving in to it. But after awhile they started coming around but the rodents didn't. Next batch backed the fire off a little and birds were still loving it and rodents nowhere to be found. Very happy with this product!

    Finally beat the squirrels!

I have been trying for years to keep the squirrels away from my bird feeders. Squirrels 50, me 0 UNTIL I found Cole's! I have 2 identical feeders side-by-side. I put treated food in one and straight food in the other. Watched a squirrel climb the pole, sniff not even try the treated and ran down the pole. They are even ignoring the untreated now!Follow the directions and add more for the first go through. I added a full 4 TBSP for @3# of food. Birds keep eating and the Cardinals seem to really love it.I will never fill a bird feeder without Cole's mixed in again!Read the warning as well! This stuff will hurt if it get's in your lungs, in your eye's or on your skin! Respect the BURN!

Powerful! Don't get it on your hands!

We've had a problem with deer and squirrels eating seed from our bird feeders. Began using Cole's several months ago and have had no problems since. It doesn't seem to bother the birds, but the mammals detest it. You'll need a safe way to mix the sauce with the birdseed. I use a "Stokes 3N1 Super Tote" which I bought elsewhere. It combines the functions of a funnel and enclosed container. Add the seed, pour on the right amount of Coles, close the lid, and shake well to thoroughly coat the seed. Then you can pour the treated seed directly into a feeder without touching the oily, peppery-hot seed with your hands. Biggest problem with Coles is that it tends to dribble down the edge of the bottle. It's really bad stuff to get on your hands, so any improvement to the pouring design would be helpful. I'd give it five stars if the bottle were redesigned.

    Problem solved.

I am now squirrel free. Well not completely they have moved to my neighbors feeder exclusively. I don't have anything against squirrels in general I was just tired if seeing nothing but the tree rats hanging from everyone of my feeders. And to all the people with dove problems. Throw a little seed on the ground for them and hang your feeders and your problems will be solved.

Wear gloves when mixing and wash your hands

The best stuff to keep squirrels and even bears out of your seed. Only mammals have taste buds, therefore they get a nice surprise when stealing seed.

    The birds love it

The only recommendation in have is do the coating outside. The fumes are really strong. Apparently word of this flavor has gone out as our Finch population seems to have doubled and no more squirels.

Second time's the charm. Working very well.

Posted by chefjorge on Aug 25th 2018

There may have been some user error the first time around, but this stuff is working very well and the feathered friends seem to love it. Not only are squirrels and raccoons not eating it, there are far fewer of them in the yard period, almost to non existent. Instead of having the raccoon clear out the seed in an evening, and squirrels breaking the feeders, I have many more birds. I weigh out 10 lbs. of black oil sunflower seeds in a black plastic garbage bag, measure out a quarter cup of the sauce and mix it very thoroughly wearing disposable nitrile mechanics gloves. Have gone from buying 25 lbs. of seed in a week or so to every 3-4 weeks.

Works as designed, but heed the safety instructions...

Beware and heed the warnings about wearing protection when applying this to birdseed. I inadventatntly got less than a quarter of a drop on my cheek, near my eye and wowzer!

    IT WORKS! I proved it!

Posted by Sher on Jul 4th 2018

Im disappointed, I didnt even see the squirrels try this, but I had a birds-eye view of a chipmunk climbing up my feeder to steal my birdseed. Aha! It didnt take long before he was gone like a flash! He did return and looked around my flat feeder; he very quickly reconsidered and hopped right back down. I know, I know, chipmunks need to eat too”but not MY birdseed, especially when its coated with Flaming Squirrel Seed Sauce.
