Gardener's Gold Potting Soil is great for all outdoor and indoor container plants! A blend of sphagnum peat moss, composted hen manure, shellfish, perlite and very old dark bark. It is also pH adjusted with lime as needed. This is our signature potting soil - arguably the finest you have ever tried! It is perfectly suited for houseplants and all general garden planting. Planting Indoor or Outdoor Containers

When potting plants, be sure to cover the drain hole in the bottom of the container with rocks, large bark or a piece of broken clay pottery. This allows water to drain away from the plant roots so they won't rot away. Place enough Bumper Crop® Potting Soil in the container so that the plant will sit at the proper height near the top (within 1 or 2 inches) of the container. Fill and compress more soil into within 1 inch of the top. Be sure not to pack the soil too much, just firm enough to hold the plant in place. Water well. Be sure to use the Master Nursery Bumper Crop® line of plant foods to get your plant off to a great start.

Hanging Baskets and Window Boxes

Bumper Crop® Potting Soil is designed for planting hanging baskets and window boxes. With window boxes, make sure to cover the drain holes with bark or pot shards to allow the water to drain away from the plant's roots. If you are combining different plants, make sure they are good "companions" (i.e., they like similar amounts of sun and moisture conditions).

Special Care

Bumper Crop® Potting Soil contains ingredients to help your new plants get off to a healthy start. However, due to limited space for root growth in containers, plants will require more frequent fertilization and watering than plants grown in open soil. Check plants frequently for watering needs.
