OK for cukes and tomatoes but NOT for bell peppers!

Posted by Lynn WLynn W on Jul 11th 2019

Well made, sturdy and nice looking. Filling with all the dirt, dolomite and fertilizer though was very labor intensive! I could plant 3x the plants into my raised bed garden in the same amount of time : \ ( Purchased due to tree roots taking over my raised bed gardens : ( ) The tomatoes are going gang busters, the pepper plants doing about the same or less as in another traditional pot, and the cucumbers have taken off nicely. Planting is a bear though. I dug the holes for the plants before putting on the mulch cover, it made planting much easier. (Update July 28, 2019 -- Bell Peppers not doing that great, leaves curling under (never had that problem before). Cucumbers doing well in one of the boxes, the other box not so much-- really need lots of room for trailing cukes. Staking tomatoes definitely a challenge! )

    Great little garden box.

Was a little curious as to how it would work, but cucumbers are growing like crazy. The ones in my garden not so much this year.

Small scale gardening at its best!

This is my 2nd Earthbox. Last year I had the most amazing crop of basil. I harvested weekly and had pesto through the winter. This year, I've added tomatoes. Too soon for harvest, but the plants look healthy and strong.

A friend recommended these boxes to me when I mentioned I wanted to grow tomatoes and basil on my deck. I bought the two-pack. They are nice and large, arrived quickly and packaged appropriately and they work as advertised. We have tomatoes, basil and peppers growing. Clearly, they aren't meant to grow viney plants, like squash, but I could not be more pleased. Our plants are doing very well. The smart water reservoir really helps and you can't overwater the plants.
