Our terracotta self-watering Olla slowly releases water from the reservoir deep into the soil directly to the root system of the plants. It is helpful to plant the Olla first and then plant around it for best watering results. How to Install the Olla: First dampen the existing soil where the plants and Olla will be located. Dig out a small hole and gently bury the Olla up to the neck. Leave the lid and water indicator in place to keep debris out of the reservoir during the planting process. Place your plants in the desired location. Remove the Olla lid and fill it to the top with water from a hose or watering can. Place the lid and water indicator back in place. The water indicator should bounce to the top. As the water releases towards the root system, you will see the water indicator slowly fall. Know at first glance when the Olla needs refilling. No more over-watering or under-watering! Watch your plants flourish with consistent moisture where its needed most.
