Bird Garden mixture

Producing a colorful, natural feeding habitat for wild songbirds can be fun and easy. This easy-to-grow mixture of popular perennials and annuals will attract a large variety of songbirds to our garden all season. Some varieties may even be left to dry in your garden to produce natural bird feeders!

When and where to plant

Select sunny location and plant outdoors in well drained soil after all danger of frost is past. For best results, loosen soil with rake or hoe. Firm soil over seeds and keep moist. For earlier blossoms sow indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost.

Water when necessary and feed every 4-6 weeks. Remove old flowers to stimulate new blossoms.

Cutting Hints

Water plants before cutting. Cut in morning or evening when temperatures are coolest. Select flowers with buds 1/2 to 3/4 open. Cut with sharp knife and place in pail of lukewarm water immediately after cutting. Arrange in clean container and add fresh water as needed.
