Description
Catnip
This perennial is famous for the way it delights cats, attracts the birds and bees, and flavors tea. Leaf aroma makes cats kittenish and playful. Plants grow 2-3' tall with attractive pale-pink or white flower-spikes.
When and where to plant
Select location with sun or partial shade and sow seed in the fall or spring as soon as ground can be worked. Prefers well drained soil. Cultivate soil and enrich with vegetable food. Firm soil over seed.
Care
Prefers moderate moisture. Pinch plants back when flower buds appear to increase harvest period.
Harvesting
Cut top leaves and flowers and dry. Store in air tight container.
