Pretty durable but watch how you use it
I like how light weight this scoop is and it certainly handles enough volume but beware that it does break depending on how you're using it. I have a patch in my garden that has tons of rocks in it. I was using the scoop to dig planting holes and hit a rock which chipped off a huge chunk of the lip so now it's not as useful. Luckily I had bought 2 of these and still have the other (I just make sure to use it for more subtle tasks like scooping compost etc.).

Sturdy Scoop
This is a nice sturdy scoop that has many potential uses inside and outside the house. Overall durability is better than most of the other products I have used for this purpose. The regular plastic ones usually break easily, and the metal ones most often corrode quickly when in contact with soil and rocks. The composite strikes a nice balance between the two, and this thing feels virtually indestructible. The size and shape of the scoop make it useful for measuring out fertilizers and other garden products.

Fiskars 7068 Composite Soil Scoop
Fiskar's has offered many products that I have purchased and this # 7068 Composite Soil Scoop is another I am happy to have purchased. It is a solid cylindrical shape to reach into the tilled soil to scoop out a perfect hole for a planting. I plan to use mine differently as a birdseed scoop. Each use is ok though, if you would like to dirty up this nice looking little scoop go ahead as it can be cleaned up with soap and water and it should look as good as new. Another quality Fiskar's product.

Excellent for re-potting
This scoop works really well for guiding soil past plant leaves into a pot without half of it falling off. Ideally, I think I might prefer a pair of differently sized scoops: one for small pots or tighter spaces and the other for moving larger quantities of soil. It takes a LOT of scoops with this tool to fill a gallon-sized pot. If you try to overfill it in order to do it more quickly, the soil tends to spill out. I also appreciate that it won't rust.I had also hoped to use this for birdseed, but again find that it's annoyingly small for filling a very large feeder and too big for filling a really small feeder. The rounded end of the scoop makes it hard to control precisely where it is emptying. Overall, 5 stars for re-potting, but only 3 for birdseed.

A handy, useful scoop
I used to use old yogurt and ricotta cheese containers to scoop planting soil and mulch out of the big container bags and buckets and add them to pots and plant holes. The dirt invariably fell all over making a mess. With my brand new Fiskars Soil Scoop, the soil stays in the scoop and I can add as much or as little as I need around the plants. I do not have a mess all around and the plants stay in the center of the container instead of being pushed aside by uneven soil distribution. Another plus is the ability to locate the scoop easily on the ground because of it's orange handle ring.
