Description

Grow bigger, stronger plants with PittMoss Plentiful!

Key Product Features

  • PittMoss Plentiful is proudly produced in the United States from 99% recycled paper fibers and small amounts of organic bark that is enriched with poultry manure, bovine compost inoculates and feather meal.
  • It has a nutrient composition of N (0.176%) P (0.100%) K (0.024%), which helps improve soil environments and maintain a pH balance that is adaptable to meet the specific requirements of each plant.
  • This product is OMRI-listed for organic growing and features less dust than traditional soil mediums with no pathogens, bugs, weed seeds, heavy metals and other harmful ingredients.
  • Due to its ability to retain applied resources and evenly distribute them throughout the porous particles to make them more readily available to the plant’s roots, this product can reduce water usage by two-thirds.
  • It serves as the perfect all-purpose potting mix for raised beds, vegetable gardening, potted plants, seedlings, mulching and any other applications where traditional potting mix is typically applied.
  • PittMoss sources all paper ingredients from local recycling facilities, hand sorts each batch to ensure zero contaminants and conducts extensive testing to create a perfect living soil environment.

PittMoss Plentiful is a peat-free, OMRI-listed, organic potting mix with no pathogens, weed seeds or other heavy metals and harmful ingredients. It is uniquely crafted from recycled cellulosic fibers and small amounts of organic bark ingredients fortified with poultry manure, bovine compost inoculates and feather meal. This soil contains high amounts of readily available carbon, ideal for creating a living soil environment that is chock-full of soil biology. It enables a pH balance that readily adapts to meet the specific needs of plants, promoting robust root growth. By using PittMoss, gardeners can reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with peat bog mining, and it offers a cleaner, more consistent soil option with rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance.

    Glad I bought it

Posted by Deborah W on Sep 16th 2023

I had a very good experience. It looked fine, maybe a bit grayer than peat-based potting soil, but I expected that. I didn't see bits of paper with words on them as seen in a photo from the website. I noticed a slight odor as I opened the bag, a bit different but not unpleasant, and it dispersed. I have used the soil to repot a papyrus and a couple of months later it looks a lot happier. Will buy again, no question, including for outside gardening.

    Great product

Tomato plants grown in Plentiful were much bigger and healthier than another potting mix. After seeing the difference, I ordered more.

    Very Impressed!

Posted by Holland D on Jul 3rd 2023

Everything I planted in it is way ahead of plants in regular soils. I am a senior so the light weight and the free delivery were primary considerations, but the results are fantastic. Holds moisture so much better so I don’t need to worry about watering in the dry weather we’ve had so far this summer.

    Pittmoss is great!

Posted by Stephen G on May 4th 2023

Pittmoss is excellent - I use it for native plant plug pots, mixed 50% with organic compost. It holds moisture very well. Adding the compost helps it to keep its structure over the growing season - Pittmoss alone, if allowed to fully dry, has a hard time rehydrating and will shrink in the cell.

    New user

I am very happy with the results so far. I started more than 40 varieties of peppers 3 weeks ago and have had all but six varieties emerge so there’s still hope. I just started around 140 varieties of tomatoes so I will know what kind of success I’ll have in about a week. I used PittMoss straight out of the bag. In the future I may mix with some potting soil depending on the success I have with my first go around. So far, I am very happy with your product. I like the weight, texture and ease of use. Clumping is minimal. It seems to be holding moisture nicely. I look forward to using it in the future as a substitute for peat moss.

    So far so good

Posted by Olga D on Feb 21st 2023

I'm using Plentiful as a seed starting mix. I've just started pepper and eggplant seeds and found the product easy to work with. I did find a couple of seeds becoming exposed after the initial planting, so I was worried that the growing mix was too loose to protect seedlings. However, seeds are sprouting just fine and seem to be thriving. I'm very anxious to see how they progress in the coming weeks! I love the light weight, clean mix and hope it can replace my traditional seed starting mix which was peat based.

My seeds have germinated quickly. They’re so healthy looking and growing very well. Love the way it feels and the way it holds moisture next the seeds and seedlings is great. I won’t be using anything else in the future.

    So Far I Love It.

I've used it to seed several trays of flowers and vegetables. To date many of those have germinated several days before expectation. So, we shall see how it does at those seedlings get bigger! So far it's a great product. Susan
